Anne-Françoise Wauthy
Abstract art, mixed media
Anne-Françoise Wauthy's bright, colourful works evoke surprise and joy, while reflecting the patience and meticulousness of the artist's work, rooted in the repetition of gesture. Her previous experience with quilting continues to influence her current techniques.
Today, her practice focuses on two main media: materials recovered from everyday objects (Nespresso capsules) and paint. Between the rigorous, meticulous work of recycling aluminium capsules and the freedom and spontaneity of painting, colour is the main constant in her work. One practice inspires the other, and the two creative territories sometimes mix to give rise to new explorations.
