Mado St-Cyr

At age eight, I received a set of oil painting by numbers. Two paintings to do - horses. The first, I executed it following the lines and the colors. The second, I painted it as I wanted, with gradients and mixed colors. I thought it was beautiful! But I felt like I was wrong. An event like that, ordinary in appearance, can be very important. For years, I restrained myself in my art.

One night, I started dreaming about colors. I painted freely in my dreams. The need to let go was so strong! I heard inside me - If not now then when? I accepted.

Now I let myself be guided by the painting. I like the freedom of imperfection - and I trust the process.
