{"id":18610,"date":"2018-06-25T17:08:05","date_gmt":"2018-06-25T21:08:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tourdesarts.com\/apply\/"},"modified":"2024-07-03T12:22:21","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T16:22:21","slug":"apply","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/tourdesarts.com\/en\/apply\/","title":{"rendered":"APPLY"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1>\n\t\tCALL FOR SUBMISSION\n\t<\/h1>\n<h2>\n\t\tTOUR DES ARTS 2025\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<h3>The Tour des Arts is presently accepting applications from artist and artisans<br \/>\nfor the 36<sup>th<\/sup> edition which will take place from July 12 to 20, 2025<\/h3>\n<h3>\n\t\tEvent\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>Tour des Arts is a non-profit organization involved in promoting the artists and artisans of the area. The event consists of receiving the public in their studio for nine consecutive days, from July 12 to 20, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\tEligibility\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<ul>\n<li>Reside in Sutton, Abercorn, Brome, Mansonville (Potton) or certain parts of Lac-Brome, West Bolton or East Bolton.<\/li>\n<li>Be professional artists or artisans.<\/li>\n<li>Have a studio at their residence where they can receive the public. (Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\tResponsibilities\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>Becoming a Tour des Arts member means committing to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contribute actively to the functioning of the Tour des Arts in a meaningful way.<\/li>\n<li>Be present in your studio from 10 am to 5 pm each day of the Tour.<\/li>\n<li>Offer daily fifteen-minute demonstrations of your creative process\/craft at the assigned hour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\tMore details\n\t\t\t\t<h4>As a member of the Tour des Arts, you must:<\/h4>\n<p><strong>In preparation for the Tour:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Volunteer for a job on one of the Tour des Arts committees and contribute to the functioning of the Tour des Arts in a meaningful way(each member must contribute approximately 40 hours of volunteer work per year).<\/li>\n<li>Attend all 3 mandatory general meetings (your membership status may be revoked if you miss the AGMs without a valid reason).<\/li>\n<li>Participate in fund-raising events as the need arises.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a minimum of 6 images (horizontal) for the Tour des Arts social media showing the artist creating a new work or presenting a new work. Also the member will have to produce a very short video (max 20 sec.) of the artist at work or interacting with art in the studio. A short description should accompany your images and videos.<\/li>\n<li>Be in the Tour des Arts brochure and provide images and required information.<\/li>\n<li>Be on the Tour des Arts website and provide images and required information.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the group exposition at Arts Sutton during the TDA.<\/li>\n<li>Attend the vernissage (held on the Friday before the start of the Tour) and bring some finger food or a punch.<\/li>\n<li>Place AND remove your signs according to regulations set by the Minist\u00e8re des Transports<\/li>\n<li>Use only TDA signs.<\/li>\n<li>Tour des Arts strongly suggests that you purchase liability insurance for the duration of the Tour to protect you from claims in case one of your visitors has an accident on your property.<\/li>\n<li>If you wish to add an additional medium to the one for which you were juried, or you wish to change from one medium to another, you are required to inform the executive and may be asked to submit these new works for jurying. (For example, if you have been juried as a painter and you subsequently wish to sell sculptures during the Tour).<\/li>\n<li>Voice any concerns you may have at any General Meeting.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure your spot on subsequent Tours you must bring the raffle tickets, catalogue, survey at the last exhibition day and cheque for fees to the first General meeting.<\/li>\n<li>You have the option of taking non-consecutive one-year sabbaticals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>During the Tour:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be present in your studio from 10 am to 5 pm each day of the Tour.<\/li>\n<li>Offer daily fifteen-minute demonstrations of your creative process\/craft at the assigned hour<\/li>\n<li>Display in your studio ONLY YOUR OWN WORK that you have created.<\/li>\n<li>Keep track of the number of visitors you receive during the tour<\/li>\n<li>Prominently display in your studio all the posters you receive from the TDA<\/li>\n<li>Produce a minimum of 25 raffle tickets filled out by visitors to increase the Tour des Arts mailing list (print or online).<\/li>\n<li>Domestic animals must be confined to areas away from the public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\tFees\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<ul>\n<li>The annual membership fee is $430 for 2025.<\/li>\n<li>New members also need to include a $350 for their signs (non-refundable)<\/li>\n<li>You must become a member of the Arts Sutton Art Centre (membership fee $50)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\tMore details &#8211; Fees\n\t\t\t\t<h4>FEES<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Fees increase annually by a minimum of 2% to 5%. The Tour des Arts is a non-profit organization. Your fee pays for advertising and production costs.<\/li>\n<li>New members also need to include a $350 for their signs.<\/li>\n<li>Your payment must be received by 1st October : Please send your cheque for $780 ($430 + $350) at :<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tour des Arts<br \/>116 Jackson,<br \/>Brome, QC<br \/>J0E 1K0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must become a member of the Arts Sutton Art Centre (membership fee $50)<\/li>\n<li>Arts Sutton takes 35% of sales at the gallery during the TDA Collective exhibition.<\/li>\n<li>Organizers do not retain any percentage of artists&#8217; sales. 100% of the proceeds of the sales you make during the Tour are yours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\tSELECTION PROCESS\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<ul>\n<li>Application must be complete<\/li>\n<li>Participating artists are selected by a jury comprised of practising professional artists. Decisions are final and cannot be appealed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\tMore details &#8211; Selection process\n\t\t\t\t<h4>DEADLINE<\/h4>\n<p><strong>All applications must be received by August 31, 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under certain circumstances, the Administrative Council may elect to extend the deadline.<\/p>\n<h4>SELECTION PROCESS<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Application must be complete<\/li>\n<li>Participating artists are selected by a jury comprised of practicing professional artists.<\/li>\n<li>Applications are juried relative to the artistic merit, professionalism, integrity, craftsmanship and originality of the art represented in the images, the artist statement and the CV\/bio submitted.<\/li>\n<li>Artists will be informed of the jury&#8217;s decision electronically approximately six weeks after the deadline date.<\/li>\n<li>Selected applicant will receive a studio visit to verify that:\n<ul>\n<li>The artist creates the majority of his\/her work at their studio<\/li>\n<li>The creative process of the artist can be demonstrated to visitors during the Tour<\/li>\n<li>The studio conforms to basic minimum requirements as to safety and accessibility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a case where the studio falls short, the representative may offer suggestions as to ways of improving the studio, and may make another appointment to re-visit the studio, where appropriate.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mentor: The Tour will try to assign a mentor to each new member to guide him\/her and answer questions as the Tour approaches.<\/li>\n<li>Probation period: New members are on probation for their first year of the Tour.<\/li>\n<li>All jury decisions are final.<\/li>\n<li>Successful applicants are required to participate at the Annual General Meeting in October (First Friday after Thanksgiving).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n\t\tINFORMATION BEFORE COMPLETING THE FORM\n\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>Completing the Application form is essential for the acceptance of your application.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\tMore details &#8211; Description of artist\/artisan work\n\t\t\t\t<h4>1- DESCRIPTION OF WORK<\/h4>\n<h4>A. Brief description of work :<\/h4>\n<p>Flyer text French text first followed by English version. <strong>Maximum number of characters: 70<\/strong><br \/><em>Ex: Art c\u00e9ramique utilitaire \/ Functional clay art <\/em><\/p>\n<h4>B. Biography \/ artist statement:<\/h4>\n<p>Summarize your artistic practice-including medium(s), themes, techniques, and influences. <strong>Between 80 and 140 words.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The bio should open with a first line that encapsulates what is most significant about your work, rather than opening with biographical tidbits, such as where you went to school, grew up, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Helpful questions to answer:\n<ul>\n<li>What medium\/media do you work in?<\/li>\n<li>What are your sources of inspiration?<\/li>\n<li>What is your style like?<\/li>\n<li>What themes are represented in your work? What is it about?<\/li>\n<li>What about your technique is unique or different from other artists?<\/li>\n<li>What is the first thing people notice about your work?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>C. Your detailed CV\/Bio: PDF, DOCX file<\/h4>\n<h4>2- REQUIRED IMAGES<\/h4>\n<p><b>Please take special care when taking your images &#8211; no blurry, poorly lit, poorly cropped photos etc. Your images must meet the stated technical criteria.<\/b><\/p>\n<h4>A. Images format<\/h4>\n<p><strong>10 photos of your work<\/strong>: what visitors should expect to see when visiting your studio. (must include all medias that you are applying with). Filenames<\/h4>\n<p>IMPORTANT : Filenames must absolutely follow these rules:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Allowed characters<\/strong> are the 26 letters of the alphabet, the numerals (0, 1, 2, &#8230;, 9), the dot (.), the underscore (_) and the hyphen (-).<\/li>\n<li>Filenames <strong>must not contain<\/strong> special characters, accented characters, and no space.
