Acrylic landscape paintings & India ink drawings

When asked what excites him most about painting, John Fowles replied: “Creating magic. To start with a flat surface and to create an illusion through colour, line and form is magical. This is especially true of the theatre. One of the most thrilling moments of my artistic life was to watch the lights go up on the first set that I designed and painted. The curtain rose and the dark stage was transformed into a street in Elizabethan London. For two magical hours the scene throbbed with life and passion as the performers acted out their story. The audience was in thrall. The illusion was complete.”
